Groups Post Interop Report

The political action group First Response Coalition (FRC) has posted an interoperability report that provides experience from several states on best practices and model projects. The group concludes that, “Funding is still the major hurdle to achive interoperability, with creative state financing limitd by insufficient federal commitments.” The group also noted that state programs show how to improve communications “without drastically reallocating spectrum,” and that there is a need to adhere to technical standards to insure compatibility. The FRC is largely funded by Verizon, but claims membership from diverse groups that include the Gray Panthers. Their work focuses on spectrum allocation matters, especially those bands used by cellular companies. Download (pdf) the group’s report here.
