Fla. Dispatcher To Be Honored

Okaloosa County dispatcher Nina Anne Hawkins and 6 year-old Kaela O’Neill will be honored by the E9-1-1 Institute this week for their teamwork in handling a medical emergency suffered by Kaela’s mother. The child recoginized that her mother was having a breathing problem, dialed 911 and reached Hawkins. Together they exchanged information, and EMS crews arrived quickly to revive the mother. Gregory L. Rohde, executive director of the Institute, praised their actions that led to the mother’s recovery.
