Knox County (Tenn.) E-911 dispatchers are the first in the state to have live feeds in their center from traffic cameras around the city. The cameras belong to the state’s Department of Transporation, and dispatchers have no way of pointing or controlling the cameras. However, officials say dispatchers can call the DOT center to request that a camera be pointed to help them gather information. The state has also established a radio link between the county center and traffic two trucks that work on the region’s highways.
