‘Missing Officer’ Radio Call

Toledo (Ohio) dispatchers broadcast a last “missing officer” radio call for Det. Keith Dressel during and after his funeral on Monday, which was attended by thousands of mourners. Dressel was shot and killed last week when he and other undercover officers confronted two men on the street. The funeral included an honor guard and bagpipes at a local church, a Catholic mass, eulogies by friends and co-workers, and mayor Carty Finkbeiner and Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher. The church service ended with a taped last radio call: a dispatcher repeatedly called Dressel’s callsign, and then upon receiving no response, said that Dressel had answered his final call. The same message was later broadcast live on the police department radio channels.
