911 Simulator History

A bit of 911 history has been revealed by a State Farm Insurance executive who helped convince the company to create a 911 simulator funding program. Graydon Moir recounted how he went looking for a simulator to help teach children to use 911, but found nothing on the market. He approached the company, who gave the go-ahead to fund it, but then needed to create a simulator. He turned to his brother Floyd, who owned a high-tech company, Retina Systems Inc. The two brothers designed and built the simulators, sold them to State Farm, and the public education program was created. Read Moir’s e-mail account here.
