A Fresno County (Calif.) sheriff’s deputy drove up to the wrong rural home in response to a 911 hang-up call, where he encountered the resident holding a rifle. The resident was seriously injured when the deputy opened fire, believing the resident was had on a ski mask and was a threat. But the man’s wife said it was dark at 8:41 p.m., and her husband took the firearm to investigate a car coming up their driveway while wearing a pulled down hat. Sheriff’s officials said the 911 call came from 7297 E. Walter Ave., while the deputy was checking the house at 7274. They said an investigation is underway to determine how the incident occurred.
