Missing Person Case Questioned

Officials of the Grays Harbor (Wash.) Sheriff’s Office are investigating how a missing person case was handled, including the possibility that a dispatcher didn’t broadcast an all-points broadcast after the missing woman’s car was spotted. Beverly Johnson, 69, apparently suffered a medical condition and drove into a rural logging area, where her car was found 11 days after she went missing. Officials said a citizen had earlier reported her car as a DUI vehicle to sheriff’s dispatchers 5 hours after she was reported missing, but a shooting and pursuit, and a roll-over vehicle accident shortly after the call diverted officers.
