A 911 call made by a Redding (Conn.) resident was inaccurately routed to a PSAP in Canada, apparently due to a VoIP database error. Police chief Douglas Fuchs said the homeowner was using Vonage VoIP service at home, and that a 911 went to an unnamed Canadian comm center, who then transferred it back. However, the Canadian dispatcher dialed a 7-digit number that wasn’t immediately answered, and didn’t display any ANI/ALI information. Even so, Fuchs said the emergency was promptly handled. Vonage was investigating the routing error.
