The FCC has granted radio service provider SoutherLINC a waiver of the Phase II deadline requirement for achieving 95% of subscribers with compatible handsets by Nov. 3, 2006. SoutherLINC operates an 800 MHz iDEN network and deployed assisted-GPS technology to implement Phase II, but gave the FCC four reasons why they couldn’t meet the deadline previously set by the commission. The new deadline for SoutherLINC is Nov. 12, 2007. Download (pdf) the waiver grant here.
