County Pushes 911 Program

Lexington County (SC) officials are promoting their “My 9-1-1” program that voluntarily gathers information from citizens, and stores it in the county’s computer system for use in emergencies. The program was begun in April 2005, but Sheriff james Metts said it hasn’t been advertised or promoted lately. Now he’s encouraging citizens to submit information for the program. “I believe in the program,” Metts said. “It can save lives. I think we can handle as many (participants) as will enroll.” Read more about the program here.
