City Withdraws job Offer

The city of Saratoga Springs (NY) has withdrawn its offer to hire former volunteer firefighter Daniel Jurcsak, who resigned in 2005 from the Eagle-Matt Lee firehouse in Ballston Spa after making crank 911 calls from a fire station while drinking off-duty. Jurcsak also worked as a part-time dispatcher. Public safety commissioner Ron Kim wouldn’t explain why he withdrew the conditional job offer. Drinking at the firehouse off-duty was allowed at the time of the incident. When a village police officer arrived to investigate the 911 calls, the volunteers were accused of taking his patrol car, driving it back to the police station, and leaving it out front with the emergency lights on.
