During his state of the city address on Wednesday, New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg said this year the city will upgrade the 911 call center to receive digital images and video from crime victims or witnesses. “If you see a crime in progress or a dangerous building condition you’ll be able to transmit images to 911, or online to NYC.GOV,” Bloomberg said. He added that the same technology will be extended to the city’s 311 system for non-emergency situations.
