911 From Manhole

Just days after a man in a trash dumpster dialed 911 for help, a man who fell into a Daytona Beach (Fla.) manhole dialed 911 at 2 a.m. The unidentified 26 year-old man called to say, “I think I fell.” He knew the street where he had been walking, but not the cross street. He was dazed from the fall and complained of a back injury. He couldn’t see any landmarks above him on the street. About 17 minutes into the call a passerby noticed the man inside the manhole, about 8 feet below the street, and dialed 911. Firefighters rescued the man, but said they were unable to find the manhole cover.
