Dispatchers’ Son Murdered

The son of two San Francisco (Calif.) police dispatchers, himself a San Francisco police officer, was shot and killed by a wanted criminal he and another officer were chasing through a back yard. Bryan Tuvera, 28, was a four-year veteran of the department, and was married to another SFPD officer just last October. Tuvera’s father Benny Tuvera was a SFPD dispatcher, but died 10 years ago. His mother Sandy Tuvera responded to the hospital after the shooting, although press reports did not say if she was on-duty when the evening incident occurred. The officers chased the suspect into a back yard, where the suspect kicked in the door of a garage and went inside. The officers followed the suspect, who then turned and fired several shots, mortally wounding Tuvera. The second officer fired on the suspect and he was killed.

My father Richard Tuvera’s brother was the late Benny (SanFrancisco police dispatcher) Tuvera whom at the time served many years with the department.Sometime after his death BennyTuvera’s son Bryan Tuvera joined the force, and at that time he was a 4 year police vet. at the taraval station in SanFrancisco. While out on patrol in the streets of the city by the bay, a persuit of a wanted fugitive ensued.Bryan, and partners managed to corner the fugitive in a residential garage. While Bryan opened the door to the garage to gain entry shots rang out,the fugitive had taken aim and shot Bryan.Bryan Tuvera was rushed to SanFrancisco genral hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.Bryan’s mother Sandy Tuvera,at that time, was my aunt. The sole reason for mentioning her name in this sad, short story was the fact that my wife at the time was to give birth to a baby boy three months after my cousin Bryans murder.I decided the moment after getting the phone call of Bryans death that I would honor my cousin by naming my first born son after him.I just felt the overwhelming feeling to do so,and the fact that Bryan was so young, only 28 years old at the time of his death made for an even more painfull loss, and easier decision to name my son after him.Sandy Tuvera (bryan’s mother,Uncle Benny’s wife, and my Aunt)heard about me going to name my son after her’s.This sparked the greatest upset in our families history.I will say that Sandy became so enraged that she took it upon herself to do what ever she could to change my mind in naming my son after hers, when I wouldent budge,or give in to her demands, she became monster like and cursed me,cursed my unborn child,my wife, and anyone who thought that naming my son after hers was honerable. She told me in a phone conversation that she would try and turn as many relatives, friends and whom ever els she could convince agianst me,shun me, and oust me out of my own family. She literaly worked herself into hating me with such passion for mearly naming my first child after hers. She realy tried everything she could to stop me from doing this.Obsessed is the word I use to describe her actions.Well I would not give in,even though my son had not even been born yet I was not going to change my mind.Never the less three months after his death my son was born, born with the name Bryan Richard Tuvera. Needless to say all hell broke loose, and to this day I am looked down upon as well as my child to certian family member as a selfish, self centered, ass hole whom they say never cared,or could give a rat’s ass about any of my family members before,or after this all took place.Sad,sad to know that perhaps my son’s name could bring back some great memories of a great guy,my cousin Bryan Arthur Tuvera, police officer, husband, son and just an all around good kid.
