The FCC has extended the waiver expiration date for operators of video relay services to comply with the Commission’s requirements to provide emergency call services. You may know that telecommunications relay services (TRS) already must take calls from those who have hearing os speech disabilities, and relay information to the appropriate PSAP. Video services provide a greater level of service, but changing technologies persuaded the FCC to extend the deadline for providing the PSAP relay services. Now the FCC has extended the waiver a second time to Jan. 1, 2008, citing changing technologies. Download (pdf) the order here.
