The Cyren Call concept actually pre-dates the 800 MHz rebanding proposal that Nextel co-founder Morgan O’Brien conceived back in 2000, according to an RCR Wireless on-line story. O’Brien recounted that he pitched the idea of a nationwide public safety radio system to Nextel’s board of directors, but they rejected it.
