The New York state Comptroller has estimated that local public safety agencies will have to spend $530 million to connect to the state’s planned $2 billion state-wide radio system, about $100 million more than previously anticipated. The system will be built by M/A-COMM, which is also the only supplier for equipment to the local agencies. The Comptroller also estimated the state itself will have to spend $260 million on radios to make use of the system. Read the Comptroller’s press release here.
