Twenty-five year veteran dispatcher James Messer criticized a plan to move the town of Olean’s (NY) dispatching operation to Cattaraugus County’s 911 center. “We are not just dealing with streamlining services here. We are dealing with people’s lives. I really think it’s a mistake,” he told the reporter. He said response times would increase because county dispatchers aren’t as familiar with the town.
