City Opts Out

Springfield (Ill.) mayor Tim Davlin said city police officers will be inconvenienced but not put at risk when a new county CAD system comes on-line Dec. 12th. The city and county originally intended to split the cost of a new CAD system, but budget constraints forced the city to back out of the deal. Now the county will go live with the new software later this month, which isn’t compatible with the city’s mobile data system. Without a way to send incidents to vehicle, some believe the dispatching process will bog down. Read more about the situation here.
