Suicidal 911 Caller

Kudos to Uxbridge (Mass.) dispatcher Kristen Vaidya, who used all of her skills to track down a caller who left an answering machine message at a religious hotline. Vaidya determined the call came from a cellular phone, which led to a phone owner’s address in Largo (Fla.), but then back to a Hull (Mass.) residence where they actually resided. But police there said the house number didn’t exist, so Vaidya re-checked databases to come up with another address in Quincy, where the original call was made, according to the cellular carrier. One of those addresses turned out to be the caller’s location, and she was taken to the hospital for treatment. Read the full story about Vaidya’s commendation here.
