The Virginia State Police have decided to convert from 10-Codes to plain English in order to clarify their day-to-day and inter-agency communications. Trooper Steve Mittendorff told a reporter, “My first reaction was, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me.’ How am I going to stop using something I’ve been using all these years?” A newspaper story chronicles the development of 10-Codes and how they vary across the country.
