A New York State Police report on a 911 call made by a Congressman’s wife was revised before it was released so it wouldn’t become an issue in the man’s re-election campaign, according to a Times-Union newspaper story. The original document was later leaked before the election, raising issues of partisan politics, and at least one State Police supervisor was reassigned over the incident. Rep. John Sweeney’s (D) wife dialed 911 and told a dispatcher that Sweeney was “knocking her around the house.” The report contained statements by State Police troopers and at least one dispatcher.
