Dispatcher Lawsuit Aftermath

You may recall that former Pender County (NC) dispatcher Debora Hobbs was given an ultimatum by Sheriff Carson Smith–quit her job or stop living with her boyfriend in order to comply with the state’s 100 year-old law against cohabitation. Hobbs protested the law, and a court subsequently ruled it unconstitutional last July. Since then, the attention the case drew has changed Hobbs’ life–for good and bad. She discussed her life with a Star-News reporter in a story here.
