Winnebago County (Wisc.) dispatchers used a deer hunter’s GPS coordinates like a video game to guide him and companions back to a roadway after they became lost in the woods at night. The group dialed 911 after darkness fell, and dispatchers were able to see their location on the Phase II electronic map. Cleverly, they had the caller hang up, walk 5-10 minutes, and dial 911 again. The dispatcher then instructed the man to turn “30 to 45 degrees” and continue walking, eventually guiding them back to the road. Read more here
