Westmoreland County (Penn.) dispatchers may go on strike, part of a general Service Employees International Union walk-out over contract negotiations that covers 2,000 county employees. Dep. Emergency Management Coordinator Dan Stevens told a reporter that 911 service would not be jeopardized, because a judge would probably order them to continue working. Interestingly, the contract doesn’t allow the dispatchers to strike, but the contract has lapsed, making a legal walk-out a possibility. Read the story here.
