The 911 CARES program has alerted us of the death of St. Francois County (Mo.) Joint Communications Center dispatcher Scott Porter. He had just finished a 12-hour shift and at 3 a.m. was driving his motorcycle home. In the darkness he struck a deer and suffered fatal injuries. He leaves behind a wife who is expecting their first child. Porter’s father Jim is director of the Washington County (Mo.) 911. Check the 911 Cares Web site for ways to help.
