Gunfire on the Phone

Seymour (Ind.) officers and dispatchers were offered counseling after officers shot and killed a man who was allegedly brandishing a knife at them while his wife was on the phone reporting his eratic behavior. It was the first fatal police shooting at the small agency in 25 years. The 911 call logging tape includes the sounds of officers ordering family members away from the man, and for the man to drop the knife. About 7 seconds later, there is the sound of gunfire.
