Today Verizon announced that 95% of their customers have handsets capable of transmitting their location when they dial 911 for help, the highest Phase II percentage of any wireless carrier. The company claimed that about one-third of PSAPs have upgraded their equipment to handle Phase II. Sprint Nextel is at about 84% penetration of Phase II-capable handsets, according to documents they’ve filed with the FCC.
