Iridium Satellite is promoting a special communications package for first-responders to use during widespread emergency incidents, when normal communications channels are disrupted. A company press release notes the introduction of U.S. Senate legislation to require the pre-positioning of communications gear in likely natural disaster areas, possibly including Iridium’s gear.
