Lobbying Group Still Active

Pennsylvania political activist Gene Stilp continues to promote public safety radio interoperability through the First Response Coalition, which is presented as a public safety-based effort to improve radio communications, but which is actually a tax-exempt lobbying group funded by donations and unnamed corporations that in the past have included Verizon. Now the group has issued a report that summarizes the lack of communications improvements in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, and makes five recommendations to “speed the arrival of communications interoperability for first responders in the eight hurricane zone states and across the country.”
